I will raise both of my hands.
Except, I'm not ecstatic about said loans as this photo may suggest.
Want to know exactly how much I owe in student loan debt? $22,957.52
Yeah.... ouch. Big ouch.
Want to know another big ouch? I've been deferring them for the last year and a half because I've been off frolicking around the world and unemployed, then employed, then unemployed, then employed again.
So yeah, baaasssicccallly, I've been ignoring them and secretly hoping either A) they would just go away on their own or B) someone (cough) Dad (cough) would graciously offer to wipe them clean! Ha! Yeah right....
But alas, it seems that ignoring the problem has not made them vanish and I will have to bear down and bite the bullet starting next month when the deferment ends.
I have such a hard time, emotionally, paying my student loans. Partly because I've been done with school for so long now that it seems like I'm not getting anything out of paying towards this beast. No instant gratification, you know? I also have a hard time paying this loan because I'm not even using the stupid degree.
But again, as much as I complain about it, they're still there....staring at me with angry, little, beady eyes.
Which is why I'm really excited to share with you this new Gradible company.
Basically, it works like this:
You have the choice of doing several different online tasks for several different companies in exchange for LoanCreds. Then, you redeem your LoanCreds for payments directly to your student loan.
There are all different kinds of tasks like putting postings on Craigslist, Tweeting messages for companies, writing blog posts, gathering email lists, etc. But you can pick and choose whatever you want.
Each task can range from 10-500 LoanCreds.
10 LoanCreds = $1
I spent about 30 minutes doing a couple of tasks and earned 220 LoanCreds ($22).
It's not a HUGE amount of money, but hey, it's definitely a step in the right direction!
I then went to redeem my LoanCreds ($10 minimum) and you just enter your student loan information and they'll send the payment directly to your loan company! It's as simple as that!
I'm kiiiiind of stoked about it.
At first I was wondering how and why it was so easy and who were these people that were so willing to pay my student loans? They explain that these online businesses are willing to pay for the "quality work of educated graduates" especially if it's to pay down the $1.1 trillion in student debt across America!
Well when you put it that way....
Anyway, if you're looking to pay off your loans just a tad faster and you have some spare time on your hands, I suggest you sign up (it's free) with Gradible!
If you use this link, you'll automatically get 50 LoanCreds (as will I)! ($5, whoo hoo! ;)
Here's to banishing those pesky loans once and for all! Goodbye and good riddance!
xoxo

Boooooo for student loans. Booooooooooo
ReplyDeleteBoo indeed!!!!!!
DeleteI like this! I have 4 more semesters of nursing school, and my debt will be about 50k. I am not stoked!
ReplyDeleteUgh. That's what seems so backwards about this whole thing - - we spend so much for education and then when we're done with school, we're supposed to "start our lives" with this enormous debt looming over our heads? We should just all move to Europe: Free education! :)
DeleteYo... I'm about to be alllllll over this site because my student loan debt is redunkulous! Thanks for sharing girl!
ReplyDeleteOf course! I'm so glad something like this exists - even if it's just a few dollars at a time. That's more than ZERO dollars of what I've been doing the last few years :P
DeleteUmmm how did I not know about this? This is awesome! My debt is sitting right around $30k right now, scary! Get this the company deferred me because they don't think I make enough money to pay them, how sad is that? But I guess I'm not complaining until the deferment ends.
ReplyDeletehaha I WISH my company would defer me - - you don't want my money? Fine! ha
DeleteWhat a great idea! I don't have any school loans, but I'll definitely be passing this on :)
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing you don't have school loans!!!!
DeleteUm, yes, I will be signing up for this. I haven't got an insane amount of debt, but it's enough that I hate it with a passion. If I can make so much as a tiny dent, this will be a good decision!
ReplyDeleteYes! And I completely share that passion of hatred with you...
DeleteCan your mother sign up and make payments go towards her daughter's loan?
ReplyDeleteYes! Mother....you're so smart. I now see where I got the brains from ;)
DeleteI'm totally checking it out. Although, at that rate it'll take me about 50 years to pay off my student loans.
ReplyDeletePS - tagged you in today's post. :)
hahaa any little bit counts!
DeleteChecking out the post now!
See you tomooorrrrrwwww :) xo
Thank you so much for sharing! Any little bit counts :) I know the feeling. I've been putting mine off forever. Every time I get ready to start paying... something big happens and I'm like "Ok, I'll defer a few more months..." I feel you.
ReplyDeleteOut of sight, out of mind! I now see why that's a saying... :/ But at least while it's deferred, a few bucks towards it can make us feel a little better ;)
DeleteThank you for sharing this! I am now signed up and going to get my husband to do the same. It is a very frustrating concept to pay these people for a degree I dont use....
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel too! It seems like a never-ending problem :( But hopefully these little steps will help make it go a TAADDDD faster! xo
DeleteThis is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteoooh checking this out right now. i hate my student loans with a fiery passion so any little bit helps!
ReplyDeleteHoly mother of mercy - I need this! I signed up, hopefully you got yo' scrilla from me ;) Off to blast social media to save some more moolah! Thanks Mish! :)
ReplyDeleteAs someone who still has 55,000$ in student loan debt from a degree that I don't use, I definitely love you for posting this!
ReplyDeleteoh girl you are way ahead of my. i've been paying mine since 2011. SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH and I still have over 65k left. I hate that payment every. single. month. And I really hate that the government gave me an interest rate WAY above what a private bank would and that they MAKE money off us students!!!! Ugh. I've been dreaming that my dad would pay them too...rough life hahaahah :)
ReplyDeleteOMG this is awesome! thanks for the tip...
ReplyDeleteI FINALLY signed up for this and I'm so glad I did! This winter when I'm stuck inside, I will be paying off my loans slowly but surely! I'm curious if you are still active with the site and if you've been able to pay off a significant amount through Gradible?
ReplyDeleteHey! I am, actually - I do a little here and there and in TOTAL have paid off $463 through Gradible earnings! But if you do a little each day, then you can do that much in just a MONTH!
