Some reflection and exciting news!

I gotta tell ya, I'm having one of those days where I'm feeling extra giddy inside and can't help but do a little happy dance every now and then, complete with a big goofy smile. As cheesy as this is, I'm just really enjoying life. I'm enjoying the known and the unknown. I'm enjoying this city. I'm enjoying what is now and what's to come.

Verner and I were talking the other day and, like I do quite often, I reminded him that the end of this month will be the one YEAR mark for when we came back to the States after our world travels. He kind of gave me this wide-eyed shocked look and couldn't believe the time had gone by so fast. But what's also interesting is that we've been back for double the time we were even gone and yet....and yet, it's something that we still think about often. Gone are the days when we're sad about it though, and that's what's significant to me now. Our 6 months of traveling will always be a big part of our lives and our memories, because well, you know. But I think when we first came back (and several months after), we felt a little lost, like, now what? So when we thought about the time that brought so much joy, we couldn't help but feel sad and down and miss that part of our carefree lives. So now, to be able to reminisce and just smile and be thankful with no attached sadness, that means something to me. It means we've created a life here that makes us equally happy, just in different ways. I'm proud of what we've accomplished in a year. I mean heck, within just one year, I was an assistant buyer, flight attendant, boutique sales associate, taxi Uber driver, and now personal stylist. It's been a lot. But it's been great. Not always, but mostly.

Okay, I feel like I just went on a tangent that maybe isn't coming across as clear as I was hoping, but anyway, point is, I'm happy and I'm excited and I'm proud.

Now on to the good news!

A few weeks ago, my boss awesome friend Jenny at Heritage Row suggested I look into being a stylist for Stitch Fix. In a nutshell, Stitch Fix is an online site for women to have their very own personal stylist (see below for diagram).

Sounded awesome. Getting paid to basically SHOP for other women? Sign. Me. Up.

So I applied!

It started with an online video interview where you recorded your answers.
(After 1,589 redo's, I finally got through it.)

And just so you know, I did it in my underwear, because, well, who doesn't like to be in their underwear as often as possible?

After this, I had a phone interview (possibly also in my underwear), which I thought went swimmingly.

Except then a week went by and I didn't hear anything...

Until today! They hired me! I'm in! I got it!

I get to be a stylist and I get to work from home and I get to pick whatever hours I want (15-29/week) and I still get to have my fun, human-interactive, boutique days too!

As much as that whole Uber driving thing was cool for extra income, I gotta tell ya, I was getting pretty over it. Now, I can fully submerge myself in the fashion realm, which is something I've wanted since back in the day. Plus, I'm sure my parents will be proud to know I'm finally putting that degree to use. ;)

Okay, this post has been all over the place.
But hey, thanks for sticking around. :)
And also, keep on keepin' on.
Life just has a way of working itself out. (Am I full of the cheese today or what?)

xoxo

  4. I love Stitch Fix - you'll have to explain how it works from your side of things. My stylist has hit several home runs, I'm almost positive she knows me in real life. It's like Christmas every month!

  12. I always feel lost after vacations, because I feel so at peace and then I come home to this crazy chaotic life and it messes with me. I'm sure traveling for 6 months would be that feeling magnified by a gajillion. I'm glad you're feeling happy and found again. Congrats on your new stylist job!
