But what about The Dizzle?

First, may I say, thank you for being so kind and encouraging after yesterday's post. It warms my heart to see so many people share in this happiness with me and wish me well on this new journey of mine and sometimes I feel like, well, shoot, what did I ever do to deserve such kindness? Most of you haven't even met me and here you are saying you're actually pumped and excited over something going on in my little life?! It's crazy I tell you. Crazy good. And I just heart you all. From the bottom of my...heart.

Now, with that said, on to the next topic for the day: The Dizzle. My love, my main squeeze, my best friend, my partner in crime, my...you get the point.

A lot of people have asked, "But what about Verner? What's this going to mean for your relationship?"

We knew going into this that becoming a flight attendant could very well mean more time spent away from each other. And seeing as we have spent a total of maybe 3 days apart in the last YEAR (no, really, I mean that literally), it will definitely be quite the adjustment for us.

I've asked him several times how he felt about me being away on trips, maybe for 5 days at a time. And you know what he always replies back with? "As long as you're happy, then I'm happy and we'll figure it out." (Usually followed by a joke mentioning that the only rule is I don't have drinks with the pilot in the hotel lobby where a budding romance can ensue, or something like that.)

But you know what? We will figure it out. Because we always do.

The great thing about this job is that The Dizzle can fly for free too! Any time! Even on my same flights. So if I DO have a layover somewhere, say Boston or Alaska or Cancun or wherEVER, then he can just come along!

I mean, sure, he won't always be able to due to work schedules, but at least that option is there so we can see each other more often. I truly feel like this new opportunity can mean great things for us. I think that not only will I be happier (because you know, "happy wife, happy life," except I'm not his wife, and so the saying should really say, "happy girlfriend, happy life," but that just doesn't sound as cool, anyway, you know what I mean), but this can be a great opportunity for us to travel more together, which is ultimately what we're both so passionate about.

(And now, here's the part of this post where I get all sappy and emotional on you.)

The one thing I am confident about in this life of mine is him. And I mean that with all sincerity. For the first time in my life, I am in a relationship where there are no doubts, no worries, no stress whatsoever and let me tell you just how refreshing that is! Especially in a time of my life where there hasn't been a whole lot of direction as of late (though now, with recent life changes, I'm hoping it all goes up from here), I appreciate so much that this is one aspect of my life I can rely on. We have a partnership and a support system. We have respect and excitement for the other person's development. And we put each other first, above anything/anyone else. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I find him extremely attractive. ;)

(End Sap Rant.)

Point is, it's going to be a journey and an adventure. There will be its ups and downs, as there is with anything, but I am looking forward to this next chapter of my life, our lives. I have full confidence that we're going to make the best of our situation and we'll embrace it with open arms.

Or, ya know, we'll hate it and just quit our jobs, sell everything, and like, travel the world or something extreme like that. ;)

xoxo

  9. Your guys' relationship makes my heart melt! I'm so happy you found a guy who is so supportive in your decisions. I'm going through a similar situation where I want to move out to San Diego for work but I'm unsure how it'll affect my relationship with my current bf of 3 years. Hopefully he'll be as understanding as your boyfriend!

    1. Good question! And no, he doesn't actually! I'm not sure how other airlines work, but for this one, it's a-okay whether it's family, a friend, husband, or boyfriend :) Whoo hoo!

  18. Seriously, you guys are the most precious thing. I'm doing long distance with my husband as he's training for the Army. People make it out to be the worst thing in the world but you know what? Just like you said, you WILL find a way. Good luck with everything you two!
