First, I show enthusiasm upon purchasing said oysters.
Then, I do a mental prep for the sliminess that is about to be in my mouth.
Next comes the obligatory smell test that happens before I eat anything new.
Then, of course, the reaction to said smell test.
(Off to a good start. Clearly.)
Here comes the plunge!
Aaannnddddd....YUMMY!!!
Not.
I'm sorry. I just can't do oysters. I don't understand their appeal. The slime? The taste of Sea World in your mouth? I'll pass. But hey, I get points for at least trying it right? Right.
Anyway. Here are some other, less disgusting, pictures from our day at Tomales Bay with friends! (P.S. I should make it known that the photos below were completely stolen from my friend, Mo, who was a much more responsible photo-taker. Clearly, as you can see, I was too busy with my oyster eating.)

P.S. LAST DAY to enter for a chance to win $150 to Amazon. I mean, come on. $150 to Amazon? For free? Yeah. You're gonna want to check that out.

Agreed. Oysters = yuck. My uncles used to grill oysters at family get togethers and all my cousins would fight for their turn. But never me. I love clams, but I just can't do oysters.
ReplyDeleteNooooo oysters for this girl! In other news, LOVE that top you're wearing. So cute!
ReplyDeleteyeap. Not an oyster fan. The last and only time I had oysters, it was a soup. I ended up asking for bread and just dipping it in the broth lol.
ReplyDeleteI tried oysters at a fancy NYE dinner and I'm pretty sure my face looked just like yours. Definitely not my thing.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I'm the first one to say this, but I love raw oysters! The slimier the better, bring it onn.

I will never ever try oysters. ever. Food is supposed to be palatable and a joy to look at and smell. Those definitely don't do it. I think you are very brave for trying.
ReplyDeletei dont think i could handle that. but if you come to san diego and go to the fish market, there are oysters rockefeller and they are covered in spinach and lots of cheese. those are much better.
ReplyDeleteI can't do oysters either. Just cannot do them. I don't get the hype.
ReplyDeleteLove raw oysters! I would have to have cocktail sauce though!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to be allergic to shellfish when it comes to certain things like Oysters. They do NOT look yummy or tasty or any words that associate with good food. But I appreciate you being adventurous with food. Because thats what its all about!

ReplyDeleteI love, love, love oysters... Glad you tried them even if you don't like 'em. Agreed with the weather. Definitely enjoying summer clothing *in* the city.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you on the oyster front. Except I did not make it past the smell test. My rule of thumb is "If you have to slurp it, don't eat it."
ReplyDeleteI swear I will make you an oyster convert eventually. You just wait.
ReplyDeletei can do a lot of foods, but oysters just aren't one of them! and I have tried too, so people can't give us shit!
ReplyDeletetried some shooters and was totz gross out. at least you tried. hahaha
ReplyDeleteUgh oysters are not my friend! I found out I had a shellfish allergy eating oysters and spent hours hovering over a toilet. To say I hate them is an understatement.
ReplyDeleteAhaha, i LOVE oysters and snails! When you're born here you just have to ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Mo! She's the sweetest person! I've never tried oysters and this post confirms that life decision. Jasmine - 1, oysters - 0.
ReplyDeleteLol you gotta put stuff on it, like sauces and such! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm the same with oysters. Love that first photo series!
