InstaUpdate

Because not much else is coming to mind for today's blog post, I am going to post a few Instagram photos from this past weekend.

(ahem.)

Sunday, The Dizzle and I went to the grocery store to get food for a yummy pasta feast.
I said,  "We should get basil to put on our bruschetta for $3.99."
He said, "We should get a basil plant for $3.49."
I said, "You're sexy when you save us money."

And the rest was history.

Meet our love fern basil.

Now, the trick is to not kill said love basil. This is our first living thing that we have acquired together and part of me feels like we must prove our commitment and responsibility as adults by caring for this plant!
Some people say to water often, other people say not so often, most everyone says sun! sun! sun!

So... we'll see how this goes. Follow up with me in about 2 weeks.

Oh, also? While we were at the grocery store, I happened to notice that I was this girl:

I mean, really?! I don't even know what's going on here or how I was able to put two completely different flip-flops on my feet without noticing. I wasn't even hungover!

In fact, I was alert from a glorious and refreshing run!

See how glorious and refreshing I look!!?? (not.)

Speaking of glorious, I made my man Mancakes the other day:

In case you're wondering, Mancakes consist of:

Bacon pieces carmelized with brown sugar
Beer
Pancake batter
Chocolate Chips (which was a special request from The Dizzle because he has the golden heart of a 5 yr old at times, and boy do I love that golden heart ;) )

(If you want to see the original recipe I used, go here!)

So yeah. He devoured them in like 2.6 seconds. I, on the other hand, did not divulge in said Mancakes because quite frankly, I just don't see the appeal. I know, I know, I'm weird.

Moving on!

Actually, that's it. There is no moving on. That's all I have for you in the world of me.

I hope you enjoyed these past 3 minutes that you will never get back.

xoxo

  3. I think I've FINALLY discovered how to keep a basil plant alive!
    1. Sunshine! But not direct burning sunshine. I've positioned mine in a way that it gets morning sun and evening sun, but no middle of the day sun, otherwise the plant will actually burn to death.
    2. Water, but not too much! I dump about 1/2 to 1 cup in my plant every morning, except not on cloudy days since its not getting sun and plants can drown.
These are my surefire tips to keep a basil plant! Except if yours dies, in which case my tips are not a guarantee. Good luck!

  6. Bacon pancakes sound yummy. Chocolate chip pancakes are awesome. Beer pancakes sound disgusting. All of them mixed together sound frightening!
Anyway... I nominated you for an award. I don't know if you like that kind of thing. If you don't want to participate, no worries... you don't have to tell me or apologize or anything like that... it is just for fun! But if you want to play along, you can pick up the award here: http://diaryofanalien1.blogspot.com/2013/09/my-first-award.html
