If one door closes then another one opens?

Last week, I had a phone interview for an office manager position for a CPA firm. I thought it went really well and we seemed to click, plus I was kind of excited about the 4-day work week schedule he presented.

But then, earlier this week, I received the following "YOU'VE BEEN DENIED" email:

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for interviewing for the position with my firm.  I enjoyed speaking with you.  At this time, we have decided to proceed with other candidates.  You were a strong candidate.  The reason why I don’t think it would be a good match is that it sounds like you really enjoy working with people.  Our office is very quiet and you would often be working by yourself.

And though I was initially bummed about being turned down, I must say that I truly appreciated his honesty and his notice of what I'm looking for in a job environment.

But still, I was back to square one, and after being in the city for 3 weeks as of today, I couldn't help but feel a tad frustrated about the whole "career department."

But then!

The one company I have been waiting and longing to hear from finally called! After two months since we first had contact (back in Thailand!), they wanted to meet with me, in person!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where I have been all morning.

So. What's that saying? One door closes and another one opens?

Well, here's to hoping that this door will be wide open for me!

And if not, then that's okay too. And I just have to keep on keepin' on, right? :)

xoxo

Learn To Celebrate You!

As a professional party thrower and lifestyle blogger, I find it it extremely important to celebrate every moment of every day. Life is a wonderful thing and we were put here to make every second as glam as possible. I believe in surrounding yourself with things that you enjoy and excites you.

It is common to have stress creep up on us and we tend to forget about being happy. We tend to chuck the glittery ball of joy right out the window as soon as something goes wrong. In these moments, I say run outside, pick up the joy and glue it back together. The glittery ball of joy you just tried to get rid of it a manifestation of how fabulous and shiny you should always feel on the inside. Right now is the perfect time to make a vow to yourself that dissipate how crazy and awful life can get, don't get rid of your glittery ball of joy. If you take a moment to breath and take care of yourself, life and everything else will follow.

What do you do to bring on the party in your daily lives? Try wearing bold colors! You want people to look your way and experience your vibrance. Vibrant colors always bring the party and make you the party. It's a great way to be excited about life and pumped for the day. Not into flashy bright colors? Put on some fancy skivvies! If you don't want to draw attention to yourself, put on your best undies. It might sound weird but honestly sometimes it is all it takes.

Learn to treat yourself when you can. Get a massage, buy new shoes, go out with a friend and get a mani and pedi. It's okay to make things about you from time to time. You have to celebrate and love who you are before you can unleash the celebration onto the world. Think about it, they can't be ready for your "jelly" if you're not ready for it yourself. Prep the jelly!

Do you have any fun ways to celebrate yourself daily? Want to bring a little more party to your day to day routine? Here is your chance! I am obsessed with LUSH Cosmetics and they have tons of handmade and organic products to spice up your daily routine. I am giving away a $50 gift card to one lucky person to help them on their path of self celebration. Let's get this party started and let's get it started right!

  1. Good luck in the potential job!! It sucks being denied but clearly it worked out for the better!!

  2. You know what's awesome? That the guy actually sent you a personalized information with details about why you weren't hired! All I've been getting are automated emails or worse...no email at all & just a notification on the job website. It's kind of sad how much HR sucks these days!

Good luck! I hope you get the WS job - I think it'd be so cool!

  9. At least he had the courtesy to email you. I can't tell you how many interviews I went to where I was told "you're a strong candidate, one of our top choices..we'll be calling you either way within the next couple days"...and then NOTHING. EVER. Frankly, I think it's beyond screwed up to NOT call or email somebody regardless if they got the job if they took the time and effort to come in for an interview.

  12. I feel ya. I felt like I was a perfect match for a job but after the phone interview today they told me "we'll get back to you" we all know that means no. lol. But hey, maybe it's not meant to be because something greater is out there. :D

  13. Ahhh seriously my dream company! I hope you get it! You deserve it :)

I like your outlook on the email you got after the other interview. I was turned down by a company before I got my current job, and it was the nicest "no" I've ever gotten. Also complementary of my strengths and honest as to why he didn't select me. And I'm so thankful I ended up where I am, instead!

Like you said, another door opens...

Good luck! Crossing my fingers for you :) Have a fun weekend!

    1. I adore their face masks too. Did you know that the people that make the masks pick the ingredients and make them the day before they are shipped out to their shops? So fresh!

  26. It sucks that the reason you didn't get the job is because you are friendly and get along with people! Sounds like that would be a plus, whether you are working by yourself a lot or not!

Anyway...I would get Lush hair treatments for sure!

  27. Good luck!!

For lush I would love to try The Dish Fairy, their newest bath bombs and the Yuzu and cocoa bubble bar. :3
