And then he ate a scorpion.

We woke up this morning to a power outage, heavy rain, lightening, and the loudest thunder I've ever heard. I immediately reached for my phone to take a photo, but then that was dead too.
So instead, I whipped out my computer to check my email and remembered, "Oh yeah, the power is out." Mornings have never been my brightest moments of the day.

After venturing out for some breakfast and finding the rest of the street to also have its power out,
we decided to head to the infamous "Khao San Road," otherwise known as:

Long nickname, I know.

After 20 minutes of walking, we decided a couple of drinks were in order.
So we plopped down at the nearest dive bar.
I should also note that when you're a perma-traveler, the whole "5 o'clock rule" doesn't exist.
Although, I guess I could say that when you're me, the whole "5 o'clock rule" has never existed.

Anyway, I'm not sure if you knew this (because I didn't up until a few weeks ago), but every year in Thailand, around April 13-16ish, they have their Songkran festival, which signifies their New Year.
However, to everyone else in the world, it signifies One. Big. Ginormous. Water. Fight.

Complete with water guns.

So all day today, sitting at the bar, we had several Thais come up to us, trying to sell these huge water guns for the festival that starts at midnight tomorrow.

The Dizzle's inner 10-year-old came out and he caved.

And okay fine, I guess I got a little excited for it too.

Bad. Ass.

Tomorrow night, the city is going to go crazy.
Water fights for three long days.
Water Guns. Buckets. Hoses.
I'm excited.

V Dizzle must have been even more excited than me though because the next thing I know,
he's agreed to eat a scorpion with his 2 new friends at the bar.
Uh, what?!

A little Thai lady came around and had these bad boys on a stick, ready to eat whole.
Here's a little one-minute clip of the finger-lickin' goodness that was had.
I'm sure you can tell by Verner's facial expressions that it wasn't the most delectable thing he's eaten on our travels.

P.S. There's a reeeeallllyyy annoying sounding girl adding commentary in the background of this video. Just be prepared.

And there you have it. One less scorpion in this world, thanks to The Dizzle.

Have a lovely day!
If you don't hear from me tomorrow it's because I'm being drenched by a Super Soaker.
It's like 1994 again. Holler!

  13. I ate a bug when I was in Bangkok- I think it was a grasshopper? It just tasted like salt to me. Another tourist watching peer pressured me into eating the head, because he was so excited and shouting "Eat the head! You can do it! Do it" and I didn`t want to let him down haha! I also let a live scorpion crawl on me in Thailand. Apparently I was pretending to be brave that week...
