We took a bike tour through Ubud the other day and all I could think about was Julia Roberts, circa the Eat Pray Love era, which was also filmed in Ubud, Bali.
I kept shouting back at The Dizzle, "I'm SO Julia Roberts right now, just look at me!"
...all the while coasting along on my mountain bike.
The Dizzle quickly shut down my Julia comparison by pointing out the large sweat spots on my ass...
Yeah, okay, fine. I'm sure Julia never got butt sweat. So I'll give her that point.
And I know, I know, she had her very own Ketut, too. AKA the really old, but really cute, Balinese man that showed her the meaning of life and what not.
I may not have met my own Ketut, but I did have my very own Komang...who was probably a third of Ketut's age.
Did he show me the meaning of life? Well, no.
But he did ride around with us and point out rice fields and small villages!
Also, Komang was pretty bad ass.
He had zero fears for ginormous spiders.
I have this thing about spiders...in that I just don't like them.
And I honestly thought no one liked them...until I met our bike guide. He was all about them.
Regardless of my reaction to said spider, did you see Julia ever touch a spider whilst in Bali?
I didn't think so.
Back to Julia. So yea, she gets points for ending up with sexy Javier Bardem in the movie...
But I've already got my sexy BaliDizzle and it didn't take a year of soul searching to find him.
Plus... he wears sexy lop-sided helmets too.
So, alright. I may not be the beautiful Julia Roberts. BUT...I still had myself an amazing and unforgettable time riding through the villages of Ubud, hanging out with a true Balinese
man kid, and exploring more of Bali with my love.
So I'll call it a win.
