Why you should probably go to that timeshare presentation.

When The ThaiDizzle and I first got to Koh Samui, we were greeted at the airport by a little Thai girl named Aura.
She asked us where we were going, where we were from, yadda yadda.
I could smell SALES all over this little Asian.
Trust me, I come from a world of's in my DNA to know these things.

So I was a bit hesitant on what she was about to say.
She asked if we were married: No.
She asked us if we were over 30: He is.
She asked us if we made over $75,000/year: Definitely not.

We briefly told her our story.

Then she said that if we went to a 90 minute presentation, told them we were "life partners" as well as made at least $75,000/year, then they would give us free transportation to our hotel as well as a free day tour on Koh Samui, with no obligation to sign up.

So being as cheap as we are, we said, "Sure, why not!"
Free taxi ride to our hotel - Check!

On the day of our presentation, they sent a driver to pick us up at our place.
We arrived at this beautiful resort, greeted with cold glasses of apple juice. <--??
Then this other little Asian, named Kelly, came to talk with us.
As instructed, we told them we were "Life Partners" and that we were successful internet marketers that allowed us to travel the world and make $120,000/year.
Ha, we wish.

Anyway, Kelly turned out pretty cool and we ended up spending an hour just chit chatting about this and that, then she sent us on our way with the promised voucher for our day tour of the island.

Island Tour Day came and we were picked up from our place and taken to the dock at Fisherman's Village.

We then hopped on a boat and jetted out for an hour to another smaller island to snorkel with the fishies.
Let's just say I'm not the best snorkeler in the world and that an environment with hundreds of fish surrounding me isn't the most calming scenario I could imagine for myself.
Nonetheless, it was pretty fantastic to experience.

We hopped back on the boat and went to Ang Thong National Marine Park that consists of 42 different islands!
And that is where we kayaked.
Or should I say, The ThaiDizzle kayaked while I occasionally sluffed my stick through the water...
I know, I know, I'm the best teammate ever.

**I told you I was going to work on our passion for 2013!**

After kayaking, they took us to Sam Sao island to hike up these crazy steep stairs to overlook the amazing views of the island.

THEN, as if all of that wasn't enough, they took us back to the main island and we went to the elephants where we all got to ride one.
I had mixed feelings about this elephant "farm," so I made sure to be extra nice to ours while riding him and gave him a few pets on the back.

Then, they drove us back to our place!
Fun-filled day, all for a little 90-minute timeshare presentation where we got to pretend to be rich and full-time world travelers for life.
Not too shabby, if you ask me!
Have you ever been to one before?

  1. That's not a bad deal at all! I remember going on vacations with my parents and them being approached for timeshare presentations. They always declined. I've never been asked, but I would definitely take them up on it if the benefits were interesting enough. I would be absolutely terrified to ride an elephant but it looks like a lot of fun!

  2. oh my God you don't know how badly I want to ride an elephant.

  3. Whaaaaatttttt. That is amazing. I am beyond jealous you are beaching it up. Seriously. Next month when I go home Im LIVING at the beach, I refuse to leave.

  4. we went there! summer 2009, when I went to Thailand with my fiancé's family, we went to the park and climbed the thing to get the views and it took me twice as long as everyone else because I'm deathly afraid of heights and falling and things but I didn't want to tell anyone unless they were like "I AM SORRY BUT YOU CAN'T DATE OUR SON." I think they figured it out though when I was huddled against the back, crying.

  5. Lol I love how V Dizzle has turned in ThaiDizzle!!! It's almost as if you guys found a Groupon deal abroad or something! Way to go!

  6. We went to one in order to get a free night at a hotel we were staying at. They almost talked us into purchasing it too.... I think they are totally worth it depending on what you are getting out of it

  7. I love it, can't believe you rode an elephant! So jealous!

  9. (Sorry - bad typo!)
Our two most awesome timeshare scores: 2 nights at Mount Airy Lodge in PA plus a mini television set, and 4 days + airfare for two to Florida.
BUT, that was back in the 90s when everyone was flush with money...
Today it's a dinner, and if you're lucky, a tank of gas to get there...

  10. Sounds like a perfect day! Love the picture of you in V's arms. ;) and love you guys!

  11. That is awesome! What a fun day & all because you just went to a dumb presentation, haha. Sometimes those things are worth it!

You guys are also just too cute! =)

  12. That sounds like the best day ever! I love that sweet elephant - he looks like he's smiling. The bf's sister did something similar when she was in Mexico last week. 90 minute time share presentation that resulted in free shuttle to the hotel, snorkeling/boat tour passes, and a bucket of Coronas. She seemed most excited about the free beer though...

  13. First off, look at you and your little hottie patoty body! Lol I love the picture of you koala climbing VDizz, it's really cute. What a freakin awesome day for free, I'll have to keep that in mind for when Rob and I venture into the world someday.

  14. that's the greatest deal.
    like of all time.

  15. that's awesome. note to self, bullshit them and pretend to be rich.

  16. ha i love that this worked out for you! i am always cynical and sure i'm being ripped off, so i would've missed out on this!

  17. You two are so cute! This is the BEST time share presentation I have EVER heard! Seriously. Most just end with the price package and a goodbye, don't let the door hit you on the way out when you don't buy. Thailand is awesome.

  18. My family used to go to time shares when I was little and we stayed with our grandparents in Florida. But the most we got was a free meal. Totally worth it in my parents eyes haha

  19. You got to ride an elephant?
I am so jealous and bitter right now ;D
