It's the little things...

Last night, The Dizzle and I decided to take a little 3 mile stroll to try and burn off the killer meatloaf I just made. {Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Mishi cooked. Cooked! And it was pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.}

Anyway, I thought I'd grab my camera on the way out and, let me just say, I'm so glad I did.

I don't usually toot my own horn {ok, fine, I do. read: meatloaf rant},
but I am very excited about some of the shots I got around town.
The lighting was pretty much perfect.

But more importantly, it was amazing to me that I've grown up my whole life in San Diego, and I haven't really taken the time to appreciate the small things around me.

I mean, just look at these pictures.
The boats, the water, the bridge...there everyday and how often do I really take the time to admire it?
Not often enough, I tell you.

So here's to stopping and smelling those goddamned roses.
And here's to finding the beauty in life around you.

A Man's Mother...


The Dizzle's Mamma surprised us the other week with some glorious news.
She oh-so generously bought us tickets to fly up to San Francisco for Labor Day weekend!
She said she missed us and wanted to see us.
And boom, just like that, we're going to San Francisco!
{Which is basically one of my favorite cities ever and I'm oh-so excited.}

Point is: Mamma Dizzle rocks. Big time.

Anyway, after this gracious and generous act of kindness, it made me think of past boyfriends.
Which then made me think of past boyfriend's mothers.
Which then made me appreciate Mamma Dizzle all the more.
Because, boy, let me tell you:
There was this one Mom, and ooooh man, did she disapprove of me or what!
{Actually, okay, I think there were two Moms, now that I think of it.}
How, you may be wondering, could anyone ever disapprove of the angelic Mishi?

Well...according to them,

The Moms = Ultra Conservative God-Fearing Women
Me = The Devil

One mom actually stalked my Facebook page, saw a picture of me doing who knows what, but it probably involved me and alcohol.

Or perhaps me and a penis paddle.


Who knows. But anyway,
I was deemed "The Party Girl," never to be accepted again!
And surely "The Party Girl" would only corrupt her angelic son, right? Right??
I mean, God forbid I get spanked with a pink penis paddle on the night of my friend's bachelorette party!

Well, according to them, God did forbid it. And so did they.

Let's just say I'm so very glad I have moved on to greener pastures.
And greener mothers.

I think Mamma Dizzle is just the sweetest and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to know she thinks the same of me.
Pink penis paddle and all.

I think I was poisoned...

Because surely, vomiting 6+ times in one night is not normal.
{I apologize for the visual}
At one point in the night, maybe round 4, I didn't even take the time to crawl back to the bedroom.
I plopped myself right on the bathroom floor until The Dizzle must have realized I was missing and came to fetch me.
It was rough, folks. Very rough.

And sure, maaayyybbbeee a full day of drinking contributed.
But I'm not convinced.
I had plenty of mashed potato pizza and tater tots to even out the drinks, so there is just no way last nights events should have happened!

Anyway, let's just say, my Monday morning hasn't gotten off to the greatest start and sitting at my desk, working, is the last thing I want to be doing right now.

So I guess I'll just day dream about the fun parts of my weekend:

*paddle boarding in mission bay*
*eating the best tomato basil soup known to man*
*saturday morning bagels (my fave)*
*and some of the best views in san diego*

Oh, also, I should be lucky to be alive, 
because we felt not one, but two earthquakes yesterday!
That's a new record for me.
And when you're high up on a sky rise, it can get a little nerve racking.
Anyone else feel those?

My relationship with you, dear Scale. {A letter.}


Dear Scale,

I'm sure you've noticed some distance between us. Don't act like you don't.
We used to be so close, I know. Some might say slightly obsessed.
But you know what, Scale, I just felt like we didn't have a very healthy relationship anymore.
So up and down with us, you know?
Some days, I would love you so much.
Other days, I would want to throw you in the trash can and never see your face again!
But most days, I was just convinced you were a liar.
Now, I think we can all agree that that type of relationship is frowned upon.

So you see, Scale, I think that it was just necessary that I took some time apart from you.
And you know what?
Not seeing you for about 2 weeks has made me really happy.
At first, I was nervous and a little anxious to see you again.
But then you know what happened?
I stopped worrying.
I stopped fretting.
I stopped analyzing.

I must tell you, it's been very freeing and it's been very enjoyable!
I don't have to feel guilty, like I used to, knowing I was going to see you the next morning after eating a scrumptious somethin' or other.
Now, I just enjoy that scrumptious somethin' or other and carry on with my life.

Dear Scale, I see you've been collecting some dust since I've been away.
And maybe, one day, I'll dust you off and we can hang out again. In fact, I'm sure of it.
But right now, I've met someone else.
He's called: "Shut Up and Eat That Pizza If You Want To, Weirdo! Just Don't Go Crazy and Eat The Whole Dang Thing!"
He's pretty cool and I kind of like him a lot.

So anyway, Scale, I just thought I'd let you know what's going on.

Date Night - Dinner and a Concert

First of all, Date Nights are key.
I've always been a strong believer in this and I will probably still be a believer when I'm 72.
I don't care if you practically live together, you get your butts out there together!
{And I say "practically," because technically we don't {yet}.
But basically, we're in the same bed, whether it be his or mine, every night.
So, yeah...practically, technically, basically. You know.}

Anyway, this is why I appreciate nights like last night.
After about 13 back-to-back evenings of me 
make-up-less, hair up, unshowered, gym clothes on, 
it was nice to get clean and lady-like. I'm sure The Dizzle appreciated it too.

We had some bombtastic Italian (eye-talian?) food at Mimmo's in Little Italy {bruschetta - ohmywow), then headed on over to The Casbah to see Twin Shadow perform.

Other than the big sweaty chick bouncing up next to me and the 6 foot-something that tried to block my view, it was a great show and nice to get out of the house and do something different!

My VERY first voice message from Princess Sophia

For those of you that don't know, Princess Sophia is my dad's new wife.
I say "new" because well, it'll always seem sort of new to me.

Anyway.

She's from Korea.
As in, literally didn't speak a word of English when I first met her.

Well, according to Fasha, Princess Sophia has been trying to learn English.
So anytime we're around, he won't translate for her anymore.
He makes her attempt to speak in English.

It's slow. It's sometimes painful. But mostly it's just entertaining.

Okay. So. Before you think I'm a horrible person for blasting this voice mail on the interwebs, know this:
I would be every bit okay with you blasting my attempt at speaking your language if I were to go to a new country. I really would.
It's funny. Asians are funny. We're all funny.
So calm down, and just have a laugh or two.

I have typed out the message for those that can't listen to the video....
or if you just flat out can't understand her.

3. It's possible we re-played the last 7 seconds of that message about 28 times.

I'm about to make you very hungry...


I can't stop staring at these pictures. But I really should because otherwise I'll probably eat pizza for the next 18 days straight.

Last Sunday, The Dizzle and I were invited to some family friends of mine for dinner.
I don't even know where to begin with how amazing their home is.
But I do think V Dizz should probably become a Dentist so we too can have an amazing PALACE of a home with our very own stone fire oven outside to cook pizzas in every night.
Whaddya say, Boo? You in? ;)

Tom and Susan were basically my 2nd parents and their kids my favorite "brother" and "sister" growing up.
 I spent practically every other day with them making pillow forts and puffy paint t-shirts since I was three. They moved away from my neighborhood though when I was in middle school so it was pretty dang awesome seeing them again and reminiscing about the good old days.

Thank you, Susan, for an amazing dinner and even more amazing company.
I wasn't kidding when I said we could come over every single Sunday from here on out.

My, what an exciting weekend!

I was basically P-I-M-P status with 3 different boyfriends this weekend.

It was Officer Dizzle that stuck around most of the weekend, though.
{Lucky me, right?}
I will say it was a wee bit difficult trying to have any kind of serious conversation when a mustache was staring straight at me.

But, you know, it's little moments like these that really make me appreciate this man.
I mean, how many people would rock a pedophile/trucker look just to make me laugh?
Not many, I tell you. Not many.

Anyway, I hope you all had great weekends.
I had about 6 plates of spaghetti, tons o' nachos, pizza, and french fries.
Everything in moderation, right?
Gotta get back on track with kickboxing tonight.
I wonder if THAT girl will be there again??

The Redeeming Cheeseburgers


The Dizzle and I came up with a brilliant plan yesterday.
The plan was to hit the gym {weights for him, Zumba for me}, then we would go home and shower.
You see, the showering part was necessary because it had been two whole days for me since my last.
Gross? Yes, I know. But sometimes that's how I roll.

Anyway, after that, we were then going to go on a little dinner date.
Somewhere Downtown, somewhere with a glorious view.
Because it's Summer time, damn it, and we need to take advantage!

But then the gym happened and we got lazy. {Typical}.
And going out for dinner just seemed like the last thing we wanted to do.

So we went to the grocery store instead and sat in the parking lot contemplating what we would get.
The Dizzle asked if I wanted a salad.
Boring. No thank you.

Then The Dizz asked if I wanted him to make me homemade burgers.

A flashback happened from the first {and only} time he made those for me.
You see, he thought the garlic salt didn't have salt, or something like that, and then a horrendous thing happened where he basically dumped an entire bottle of that seasoning in with the meat and it was just a 
big lump of saltiness.
And I tried to choke the burger down with a smile, I really did.
We had only been dating a few months, you see, and I had to make him feel good you know?
But you guys, these "burgers" were just gross.
Straight up salty grossness.

So when he suggested making burgers again, 
I think my look of horror may have given away how I felt about that plan.

And you know men. They like a good challenge.

So he took my hand and marched us right into that grocery store, determined to make the best gosh darn burgers in town!

While he grabbed the ingredients, I made sure to grab a bottle of wine.
Just in case I needed something to chase it down, you know?

Anyway, we got to his place and he went to work.
I pranced around the kitchen, doing a little jig here, a little taste of cheese there, and if you didn't know, is a very key part in our dinner making. The prancing, that is.

So. Verdict on those cheeseburgers 2.0?

Two thumbs up!
The Dizzle conquered the cheeseburger conundrum!
Not too salty, not too bland, they were just right.

I scarfed it down before I even had a chance to take a picture.
So you'll just have to take my word for it that they were amazing.
Oh, and we dusted off the bottle of wine too, just in case you were wondering.

THAT girl.


Okay, so I really don't mean to be making another post about working out.
But after last night's kickboxing class, I just couldn't not share.

There was this girl. Or should I say, that girl.
She made sure to be at the very front of the room. Which, okay, I usually do that too, but last night I was a little late and had to stand behind her.
Anyway, to give you a visual, she looked a little something like this:
{don't worry, i chopped her head off to preserve her anonymity.}


So anyway, she had only a sports bra on her overly tanned ta-ta's and these skin tight cropped pants.
Normally, I wouldn't really think twice about it.
I'd glance, notice she was tan and extremely muscley and carry on with my one-two-kicks.

But, this girl...that girl.

She.was.so.over.the.top.

When we did one jab, she made sure to do a triple jab!
When we did a side kick, she made sure to do a high jump then a kick!
When we ran forward, she made sure to do a run then a jump then a twirl!
A twirl! What the...

THEN...out of nowhere, she'd make noises.
Like....{I don't know how else to describe this noise},
you know the "Raise the Roof" noise?
Like...."Oooh! Oooh!"

{I hope you get it, because I'm this close to recording myself doing this to show you.}

So yeah...that. She did that! When no one else was!
But, you guys. I just couldn't stop staring!
And maybe that was my bad. And maybe I should have just ignored her.
But I so badly wanted to say out loud to her: "Really?? REALLY??? What are you doing woman?!"

But I didn't.
And I carried on with my with my half-assed one-two-kicks.

I couldn't believe how much energy that girl had.
And you know what else??

When the class was over, she pulled out her mat and some weights because she was staying for the next body strength class!
A whole kickboxing class and then another class??

I have no more words.

No really, that's all.

Sore crotch?

Yup.

Last night, I decided to switch it up and do a cycling class instead of my usual Kickboxing or Zumba.
It's good to have variety, ya know? 
But hot dang those classes are intense.

And smelly. Very smelly.

After an hour of bouncing up and down on a hard, plastic seat, 
I feel like I should be sitting on one of those inflatable donuts.

I think I'll be going back to Kickboxing tonight.

That Night I Wore Glasses and The Bearded Dizzle Got Hit On


**Clearly Russian is not spelled with an 'O' and I'm an idiot. Thank you Dizzle for pointing out my error**


This past weekend, I threw on my glasses, grabbed my bearded man's hand and hit the town.
His Russian friend Vladimir came too.
Which, I've come to the conclusion that any time a Russian friend is near, usually good times are had.

Anyway.

We decided to go to this place called Prohibition.
It has this secret little doorway for the entrance and you have to ring the doorbell and hope they'll come let you in. It's supposed to be very exclusive.
Fortunately, I had The Bearded Dizzle and The Russian with me, because we got right in.

I immediately knew I liked the place once the live band played Hall & Oates - I Can't Go For That
As we were sitting there, sippin' our dranks and enjoying the tunes,
whaddya know, this other Russian chick walks up to us.

Well, walks up to my bearded man. 
She made it very clear she wanted nothing to do with me or our Russian Friend.

So she puts her hand out to shake The Bearded Dizzle's hand and says,

"Hi, I'm (Insert Russian Name)."

I waited for her to introduce herself to me and our Russian friend.
But, nope. Nothing.

All eyes on my bearded man.

And you know what's odd?

My hand was on The Dizzle's leg the entire time.
Not in a possessive-this-is-my-man kind of way, but yeah, kind of like a possessive-this-is-my-man kind of way.
Maybe in Russia, men are only friends with Asian girls in glasses and don't actually date Asian girls in glasses.
And maybe in Russia, when you put your hand on a man's leg, it really just means, this is my man friend whom we only do friendly things.

Who knows, but I was highly excited to see what (Insert Russian Name)'s next move would be!
I mean, that takes some balls to walk up to a man you're interested in!
Kudos to her!

But then the Bearded Dizzle had to go and ruin it.
He crushed her dreams and spirits when he said,

"This is my girlfriend."

She first had a look of shock!
Then she had a look of embarrassment.
Then she had a look of sadness.

She politely clinked her glass with mine, said cheers, then sulked back to her table.

Poor (Insert Russian Name).

Maybe next time?

Bug bites, commitment issues and body-slamming


I got four new bug bites this weekend. One on my left leg, three on the right.
That's how I really know it's Summer time.
They're starting to look like welts from all the scratching, though.
The key is to scratch around the bites so as not to damage your skin.
I don't think V Dizzle knows this rule because he has two new bug bites, one on his pinky and one on his index, and both have little wounds on them from all of his intense scratching.
It's all about self-control and precision, people. Self-control and precision.

Anyway.

I feel the need to say that I think I have a very hard time committing to things.
Because remember that seven day cleanse that was oh-so inspring to many of you?
Well, that seven day cleanse turned into five.
You know why?
Because of me, of course.
I woke up Saturday morning, turned to The Dizzle and said right out,

"I refuse to eat another bite of salmon! Refuse!"

So that was that.

We didn't eat anymore salmon and instead had burritos from Baja Fresh.
No chips though. Self-control and precision, remember?

I don't know what it is, but aside from that marathon we ran, I just can't seem to stick to one plan.
Don't drink for 30 days? How about 12.
Cleanse for a week? We'll stop at 5.
I somehow convince myself, when the going gets tough, that there are far more fun things that I can do.
Like eat burritos.
I mean, we only live once, right?

...

With that said, I will end on this note.

The Dizzle and I went to Torrey Pines beach with every intention of hiking.
Well, here's a shocker....we didn't hike.
But we did go in the ocean. The ocean!
I'm talking, fully body submergal. {and apparently 'submergal' is not a word, but i'm going with it}.
If you didn't know, I'm kind of afraid of the ocean and don't particularly like to get in the water if I can avoid it.
I think it's because of that one time ,when I was 11, the ocean and I had a battle.
And the ocean won.
It body-slammed me down to the very depths of the sea, twisting me every which way until I couldn't tell my up from my down.

I thought I was a goner.
Fortunately, I survived to tell this tale.
But I have also never amended my relationship with the ocean.

Until this past Saturday.

I started with the feet. Had to warm them up a bit, you know?
Then from my feet to my thighs. This was happening and it was happening quick.
Once it got up to my belly, I think I screamed at an alarming decibel a few times.
I don't know, I may have blacked out.

But then I did it!

The waves came, I plugged my nose and ducked.
Success.

I lasted about 3 minutes then got out.
But still, I did it, didn't I?
I conquered my fears.

BOOM.

I'd say it was a successful weekend.

Day 5 and highly sick of salmon.


So here we are. It's Friday. Can I get an amen?
Day 5 of this cleanse.
Do I feel better? Sure.
Do I feel lighter? A bit.
Am I looking forward to two more days of salmon for lunch and salmon for dinner? Eff no.
I wish I was more adventurous to try other fish. But you know me, I often play the safe side when it comes to food. I'm really trying to work on it. And when I say 'work on it,' I mean I recently started eating Canadian bacon on my breakfast sandwiches for the first time ever in my life.
Yeah. Ponder that for a minute.

Anyway, wish us luck. We've been dreaming of the things we can eat come Monday.
Something like pizza for breakfast, burritos for lunch, and cheeseburgers for dinner.
We'll be feeling really great after that, I'm sure.

My Night With George Hamilton



I've gotta tell you...
There's not much out there that beats half naked men in drag shaking their tail feathers on stage. Not much, I tell you.

Except maybe George Hamilton in all his botoxed-face-gleaming-teeth-and-fake-tan glory shaking his tail feather at the ripe age of 72.

Am I right, or am I right?
...

Last night, The Dizzle and I scored some tickets through my work to La Cage Aux Folles at the San Diego Civic Theatre.
Oh how I love me some musicals.


And oh how I loved those legs! I never thought I'd be jealous of so many men's thighs!
They were so slim and toned. I should have asked them their secret.... No, but seriously.

The show was awesome. The seats were amazing.

Was it a little awkward that the boss of my company was sitting right next to me as penis joke after penis joke was being told?

Not for me. But apparently it was for him, because he left at intermission.

Oh well, his loss, I say!

...

If you ever get the chance to see this, I definitely recommend it.
Just maybe don't do it the week you're on a cleanse.
Because then you'll be that girl drinking water and snacking on almonds at intermission.

Our So-Called Cleanse


Okay, before you write me off completely, hear me out.
The Dizzle and I are on Day 3 of our attempted "Clean-Eating" Cleanse.

And I know, I know, the last time we attempted a cleanse, it was a complete and utter fail that didn't last more than a few hours. And I am completely to blame.
Because I love food.
And if I don't get it, I become a raging biznatch.


But listen, we haven't been the healthiest of eaters lately and our 30-day No Alcohol thing was pretty much a bust as well, so we decided to do something reasonable and manageable!

And this is why I have high hopes for this cleanse:
Because it actually involves food!

Here is the layout for 7 days:
*Raw fruits and veggies galore - all day, ayy-day*
*Nuts*
*Brown Rice*
*Beans*
*Fish*

...

My day goes a little something like this...

Breakfast
I wake up longing for a bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee.
Instead, I drink water and eat a large serving of various fruits.

Snack
I long for Peanut M&M's and my 2nd cup of coffee.
Instead, I drink water and eat celery, carrots, and almonds.

Lunch
I long for a bean and cheese burrito from Rubios.
Instead, I drink water and eat salmon, 1/2c of brown rice, and 1/2c of beans.

Snack
I long for some cheese and crackers or perhaps a refreshing Diet Coke.
Instead, I drink water and eat cucumbers accompanied with some more almonds.

Dinner
I long for a giant bowl of V Dizzle's Chili.
Instead, I drink water and eat salmon, 1/2c of brown rice, and 1/2c of beans.

Dessert
I long for a Fudgsicle or two.
Instead, I drink water and eat grapes.

...

Day 1 pretty much sucked balls.
Major headaches. Probably from the caffeine withdrawal.
My energy was surprisingly really low too.

{Also, can I just say that large amounts of veggies and beans equals....
well, I'm sure you get the gist.}

Day 2 was much better.
Had a ton of energy.

It's crazy that healthy, clean foods can make you feel so good. Weeeiiirrrddd, right?

...

So on to Day 3!

I guess I wouldn't really call it a cleanse so much as it's what's probably intended for one to put in their body. But where's the fun in that?
Let's get days 4-7 over with so I can get back to my burritos!
Just kidding...........sort of.

You ever have that weekend?


You know, that weekend where you have such high hopes for productivity?
That weekend you so look forward to all week because it holds so many possibilities?

Well, that was the hope I had for my weekend.
We had every intention of waking up early Sunday morning to go on a hike.
A long, intense, this-will-take-several-hours kind of hike.
It was going to be challenging and it was going to feel great.
I.Was.Pumped.

But then bowling happened.

Which then lead to several alcoholic beverages, which then lead to watching people ride a mechanical bull, which then lead to making egg and cheese bagels at one am in my kitchen.

So you can see the predicament we encountered when Sunday morning rolled around and we were faced with the decision of either getting much needed grub or going on a 6 hour hike.

We chose the former.



Am I disappointed that 95% of our Sunday was spent in bed alternating between napping and watching episodes of The Office?

Nah.

There's always next weekend, right?

Letter to Dizzle - Friday Finds @ Anthropologie

Hey Boo,

Remember how you were telling me the other day that you've always wanted to buy a fixer-upper? 
Well.
Whaddya say we win the lottery and buy ourselves a big ol' house. 
You can work on the fixing up part, and then I can be in charge of decorating.
But here's the catch.
At least 99% of the decor has got to be strictly from Anthropologie.
And here's why.
I went to the mall the other day at lunch and got reacquainted with the store. 
Then I wondered how I could have possibly forgotten its existence until now. 
{But then I looked at a price tag and quickly remembered.}
Anyway, about that lottery. Let's win it. 
Then we can get that house. 
But you see, this house, it's got to have lots of rooms and about 3 or 4 kitchens, because I just can't seem to narrow it all down to one style.
And we'll probably have to find some place for that hammock too.
Oh, and also, who knew I could like owls so much?

So yeah, that lottery? Let's go win it, k? K.

Nectar Sunglasses Giveaway! {CLOSED}


I immediately knew I liked Nectar Sunglasses the second I went to their site.
Why?
Because anytime you're greeted with this on the front page of a website, you know they're probably really awesome. Am I right or am I right?


I love all the color options they have and think they're pretty perfect for summer!

CONGRATS TO MIKI @ Becoming What I Always Was


We may not have documented us actually kayaking...


...but we sure as heck took a butt-load of pictures in our wet suits.
Which, let me tell you were not necessary for La Jolla in the middle of July.
Fun, awkward little suckers, but not necessary.

...

Anyway, The Dizz took me kayaking at the La Jolla Coves for my birthday and it was just splendid.
I wish I could have taken my camera out on the water because we saw some pretty amazing stuff! But my favorite were the baby sea lions sleeping next to their mamma's on the rocks. 
Oh goodness, gracious. So cute.

Our kayak instructor basically looked and acted exactly like Mila Kunis.
And if you ask me, sure seemed quite interested in The Dizzle and I bet you, would have preferred to give a private tour, if you know what I mean. *wink**wink*
It's okay though, I understand the longing glances and googly eyes.
It's only a natural reaction around The Dizz. ;)

Towards the end of the 2 hour tour, I think we were feeling quite confident with our paddling.
Gliding through the ocean, paddles in sync.
How Olympian of us, no?

And as if the day couldn't have gone any better, The Dizz took me to Sprinkles Cupcakes for one last celebration.
Remember how I wanted to lose those 4 extra post-marathon pounds?
I'm thinking July wasn't the best month to try and make that happen because clearly 
those pounds ain't-a-budgin'.
