#FebPhotoADay - - Leap Day Style

Happy Leap Day!
I vote we should all get this day off from work,
since technically this is an 'extra' day for the year that we normally wouldn't work.
Anyone with me?

ALSO, someone has informed me that it's good luck for a
girl to ask out a boy today.
Soooo.......
V-Dizzle, would you like to go on a 5 mile running date with me tonight?
{I'm so romantic, I know.}

Moving on.
It's the end of the February Photo A Day Challenge via Instagram.
How'd you all do?
I thought I'd post my pictures of the month; mainly so I'd have a place to remember them.
My apologies if you're already bored.

UnderBelly

Sunday night, V-Dizz invited me and Roomie to try out a new restaurant in Little Italy.
It's an Asian-Fusion type place called

Some might say I'm not the most adventurous eater in the world,
{Okay, anyone who's ever had a meal with me would say that}
but I've been trying to make an effort and refrain from saying no
{with my nose pointed high}
without at least tasting it once.
Lest we forget the prawns night??

However the moment I saw Roomie's little slimy friend,
who I kindly named "Ned,"
somehow all sense of "adventure" was quickly forgotten.

Side note: I'm not quite sure how I'm going to survive a week in Korea
when V-Dizz and I go there in May,
but better believe I will not be eating little Ned's and friends.
No, thank you.

Anyway.
I got the Tonkotsu bowl with chicken.
Lots of Ramen noodles, veggies, and a soft-boiled egg in a mushroom broth.
You may be thinking this was a safe and mild choice of eatery.
But I will have you know, the chicken was not all white meat.
I know, I know. I thought it was big of me too.

Was the food good?
Yeah, I think so.
{You'll have to ask Roomie how Ned tasted.}

But what I liked the best was the ambiance.
It's a small little place, but great feel.
I definitely recommend it to you.
Even you picky ones like me.

Happy Tuesday!

Good news, bad news

Good news:
I ran my very first 10 mile run this weekend.

Bad news:
I still have 16.2 to go.

Can't you just see the excitement radiating from my face?

Happy Monday, friends!

Friday Ramblings - From a Sassy Chick

I have this song stuck in my head.
I can't decide if that's a good or bad indication of how my day is going to go...
Feel free to enjoy her angelic voice.
You're welcome.

Last night, some friends and I went to an event at Horton Plaza, Downtown.
The name of the event?

You can imagine the awkward, confused looks I received when trying to find the location.
"Excuse me, do you know where I can find Sassy City Chicks?"

Anyway.
Despite the name, it was actually a pretty fun little event.
Several different designers,
really great prices,
awesome swag bags,
and of course....
the sassiest peeps in town:

I scored myself a new little Hipster Hat, too.
I'm not sure if I can really pull it off,
but for $10 I figured it was worth a try.

Have a great weekend, friends!

Moms say the darndest things.

I woke up this morning to the following email from my Mother:

"I love reading your blog and see there are WAY more comments being posted.
That's so exciting :)
Now I don't feel like I HAVE to comment
just so you don't feel like no one is reading your blog ;)
Love you, Sweetheart~!
Mom

Gee...thanks, Mom.
I love you too :)

My Date with Easton

Meet Easton:

He belongs to my friend Vicki.
Yesterday, Vicki had an appointment to look at her growing fetus.
That's right folks, she's PREGGERS!!
Kind of a big deal.
Go here to read about all of the "fun" she's having!

Anyway.
She felt bad that she wouldn't be able to get home early enough to take Easton out for a walk.
LUCKILY,
I'm sort of an amazing friend.
So, naturally, I offer to head over after work and walk him for her.

Except...as I put his leash on and step outside for our walk.
I quickly realized that I haven't walked a dog in...oh, I don't know,
clearly too many years to remember.
Things have changed since back in my dog-walking days.
I believe it's unacceptable now to leave dog's poop on the ground, am I correct?

As he's walking me along,
of course he decides to do his business in plain view
just as a perfect family of 3 walk by to see.
So of course I pretend to be looking at my phone and not acknowledge the obvious dog squat.
And of course I'm actually really just taking a picture of him.
Because, hey...that's what I do.

So he's done.
And I'm standing there staring at it.
And I was this close to leaving it.
But the perfect family saw! They were only a few feet away! I couldn't NOT pick it up, right?
So then I did.
And it wasn't pleasant (is it ever?).
I mean, clearly Easton isn't exactly the smallest dog in the world.
So you can imagine the rest.
(If not, don't worry, I have visuals.)

So then I'm that girl.
Walking a dog with a bag of poop in my hand.
Because I didn't know what to do with it.
I couldn't just throw it in some random person's trash can.
What if they saw me do it?
I couldn't just throw it in the bushes, because then that would just defeat the whole purpose.
So I walked about two more blocks and decided the walk was done.
I'm sorry, Easton.
It just wasn't the same once that bag entered the picture.

Back at Vicki's, poop still in tow,
my awesome friend skills kicked in again.
I was kind enough not to take it into her home and stink up her inside trash can
(because what kind of person would do that?).
So I carefully placed it on her porch rocking chair.
Easton seemed pleased with that idea too.
You're welcome, Vicki.

The walk was strenuous,
and we were tired.
So instead of torturing him with a game of catch or tug-o-war,
we decided Grey's Anatomy was far more important for our health.
So that's what we did.
Don't worry, it may look like he's not watching,
but he was definitely listening intently.

So, Vicki.....
The answer is, "Yes."
I will watch Easton again.
Any.Time.
You don't even have to ask.

I don't think I'm ever allowed to nag you...

Not only do you watch The Bachelor with me when I want....

But you also make my sink look brand spankin' new without me even asking.
(As if you don't already have a million dishes to do at your place.)

You da best, boo.

Sunset Cliffs

Happy Monday, friends!
How was your weekend?

95% of my Saturday was spent in bed watching reruns of Lost.
Because I'm that cool and they've recently discovered The Hatch, people!
How could you not be enticed with that?
And yes, maybe i'm 8 years behind...
But better late than never, right?

Anyway.
The other 5% was spent at Sunset Cliffs with V-Dizzle.
Because though he loves him some Lost as well, I think he was going a bit stir crazy.
Apparently, he just doesn't have the dedication like me.

The fresh air was exhilarating.
The views were amazing.
It was like I had been cooped up in a 10x10 room for 6 straight hours or something.

After pretending to be a scenic photographer for a bit,
a little photo shoot seemed called for.

I call these two, "The High School Senior"

"The  Sultry Tiger"
(Sexy, I know.)

"The Classic Awkward Pose"

"The Oh-No! I'm Falling!"

Aaannndddd, I'm a dork.

And then we got our Cheesy Hats on and made the classic
"Heart in Sand" drawing.
The man has yet to say those three little words.
So I guess this will just have to do ;)

Have a great Monday!

Costco is hindering my marathon training.

Training for a marathon is some tough stuff.
You're running anywhere from 20-40 miles/week leading up to the day.
And from what I hear, it's pretty imperative to stick with the schedule if you want a successful marathon run.

I had every intention of running last night.
I really did.

But somehow, instead, I found myself driving to Costco.
I wandered the endless rows of merchandise
and helped myself to the lovely samples served by the elderly.
(Is it just me or are those ladies getting older and older?)

After all of the wandering, I naturally worked up quite an appetite.
So what better than to head on over to the Costco food court?
Hot dogs for $1.50?!
Pizza for $1.00?!
How could one pass up on such great deals?
I know I couldn't.
So I got both.
It would have been wrong not to.

As if that wasn't enough to derail me from my night of fitness,
I headed over to Vicki's house and devoured a chocolate cupcake faster than you could say.......cupcake?

Speaking of Vicki,
she rocked my blogging world last night.
This girl's got Illustrator talents like none other.
I may be Asian, but I am not technologically savvy when it comes to this design stuff.
She made this here blog look pretty fab, don't ya think?

Check out our cool new buttons!
(You should be cool and grab one)

Your day's not off to the greatest start

when the first thing someone says to you is,
"Are you sick? Because you look sick."

Gee. Thanks.

I even put make-up on today.
Clearly, that didn't help.

Pro Tip:
Don't ever tell someone they look sick.
Even if they look like this:

{via}

Because then they'll still look like that
and now feel even worse.

Happy Thursday!

You're welcome.

The Blood Countess

Awesome food @ Bankers Hill

I can't even begin to describe the awesomely horrific play I saw last night.
It was everything I could have asked for.

Picture this:
Vampires (only distinguished as that by their 2 plastic fangs)
Over-Dramatic Acting (I'm talking reeeaallyyy over the top. Which is clearly the best kind.)
San Diegans attempting Romanian accents by simply rolling their "R's."
Bright pink liquid to which I'm assuming was meant to be blood.
And the list goes on.
Clearly, a recipe for success.

I think my favorite part was when The Vampire Queen's left fang fell out of her mouth mid-sentence
as she was sitting in the bathtub of blood giving her award winning monologue.
She then tried to sneak it back into her mouth by hiding her face in her knees.
Very natural, very sneaky.
But you didn't fool me, Queen...you didn't fool me.

I think V-Dizzle said it best when describing the greatness of this low-budget play,
"The moment the vampire DJ started rapping...I knew it was going to be great."

I honestly couldn't tell you what the play was about.
We sat there in that second row, open-mouths, eyes wide,
with not a clue as to what was going on.

It was exactly the kind of entertainment we were looking for.
I think we've found ourselves a new Valentine's Day tradition.

Happy Valentines Day, Boo

You know why I like you?
Because you Face Time with me when you're standing 3 feet away.

You kinda sorta make me extremely happy.
Let's go have some more happy times tonight watching a cheesy Vampire play, shall we?

Oh. And also?

XOXO

Weekend Highlights

A Raisin in the Sun:
Two thumbs up.
If you can find it near you, I highly recommend you go see this play.
Only Con?
P. Diddy never made it to the stage.
I know, I was bummed too.

Boyfriends are nice.
Boyfriends with muscles and power tools are even nicer.
Now I have shelves in my room!
Thank you, V-Dizzle, for letting me lay on the bed and alternate
between watching Lost and watching your muscles.
You're a gem. Really, you are.
And thanks to Amira for telling me where to find these lovely shelves!

So here we are.
Monday again.
Let's make it a good one, shall we?

Friday Ramblings

Tonight, V-Dizz and I are off to see a play at the Moxie Theatre.
I was recently introduced to Gold Star and found these tickets for a very reasonable price.
We've never been to a play together,
so I thought it'd be a nice switch-up from our usual Friday night activities.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present:
Starring: Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs
and I think the Mom from the Cosby show?

I'm pretty excited.
He seems to really take his craft seriously,
and I think he's going to shine on that stage.
Break a leg, Mr. Combs. Break.A.Leg.

And on to more exciting news:

It's really nice to know this blog is being found through very important keywords
on this here internet.
Asian Transvestites?
I couldn't have said it better.

And on that note....
I wish you all the best weekend.

xoxo
