Meet Bryson. This is my nephew.
And he is 2.5 years old.
He's quite the little ham, isn't he?
All you have to do is say, "cheese" and he'll make these cute little faces for the camera.
I haven't seen this little bug since last May at my brother's wedding reception in California,
and my how much they grow in just a few short months, am I right or am I right?
But can I just say one thing?
Right here...Right now...
{And hopefully all judgements can be held...}
Holy shit balls, I am not ready to be a mother.
I commend all of you mothers who are in your twenties, thirties, hell even your fifties,
because being a Mom does not look easy.
I mean, at what point do you "be the adult" and stop the "YES-NO Battle" with a 2 year old?
For example:
"Bryson, it's time for a nap."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No!"
"YES."
"NO!"
"YES."
"NOOO!!!"
{I'm sure you can guess who won that battle.}
And then at what point does a child stop saying,
"Look at me! Look at me! Hey! Hey! HEY! Look! LOOK AT MEEEEEE!"
I will tell you this: Never.
I am 26 years old and I'm pretty sure this.morning after blow-drying my hair, I went straight to my Mom and said,
"Look, Mom! My hair! Look! ........It's long, huh?"
You see?
The job of "Mom" never ends, bless your hearts.
So just for today, just for this moment, just after this long day filled with my beautiful little nephew, I am going to be frank, and I am going to be honest, and I am going to say that I am
just.not.there.
...Nor will I be for a very long time, thankyouverymuch.
...
In other news, we've got only SEVEN more days until we leave for Spain. SEVEN!
I am trying my best to soak it all in. Every day and every moment.
{Even those 2 year old battles that make me want to pull my hair out.}
...
xoxo
I love kids! Probably more than I love most adults. But I couldn't agree more; I also love NOT being a parent. Maybe when I'm older. I'm 22 and I'd just rather put myself down for a nap.
ReplyDeleteAnd SEVEN days?! That's crazy!! I bet you're SO EXCITED!
I love kids, but I LOVE giving them back to their parents! We're married, and get questions all the time about when we'll have kids... and it won't be for awhile. I am so not ready for that!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't believe you're only 7 days away! I am so excited for you guys :)
could not agree with you more, and i think it's awesome you are able to own up to not being ready for it! i just visited my 5 year old niece in OK and that served as perfect bc for me too!
ReplyDeletebeing a mom is hard work!! probably one of the hardest jobs out there! i'm not ready too.
Nephews / Nieces will def, def, def do that to you!!! HAHAHAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that I'm doing a Heylee B. Boutique Giveaway! I thought you might be interested.
xoxo

lol yes! im 27, my nephew is 3 and when i was in florida visiting this summer i had to watch him for an entire day! exhausting!! i kept trying to sleep and he'd say, "kimmie, you sleep too much!" ...like, don't kids need nap time? not ethan. hahah!
ReplyDeleteso excited for your trip!!
Thanks for the twitter follow! I just found your blog and oh man can I relate to this post. I feel like everyone around me is having babies, and at 27, I want nothing more than to NOT have a kid right now! Glad someone else can relate!

I completely agree... I have a 2 year old (my cousin) living with us at home and I want to rip my hair out all the time. I am just not cut out to be a mother... ever =) lol

bahahahahaha i spent the whole day yesterday with my almost 3 year old godson and my 1 year old god daughter and man i LOVE them but i also loved coming home to peace and quiet and sleeping in! soooooo agree with you on the NOT READY!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that I realized I was NOT ready to be a mom when I still wanted to punch by boyfriends 11 year old sister right in the face. So damn sassy... lol Probably when that goes away you'll be okay! Right?
ReplyDeletehahahaha this is so funny! My niece was like that at this age but thankfully she grew out of it. :)
ReplyDeleteOh he's at the punchy little age of 2.5 anddddd he's a boy, lol, double whammy.
ReplyDeleteI looooove kids but am probably still not ready to be a mommy!
My daughter is almost 4 and with my husband gone a lot it's usually just me and her day in and day out. Nap times are almost always a fight along with cleaning her room. I cherish any ME time I get but it is also pretty amazing to watch her grow up and become her own little person. Parenting is hard, parenting when your husband is always gone and you have no family around is even harder. I am so grateful to have her to hang out with though.
ReplyDeleteGetting pregnant at 19 definitely wasn't in my life plan and I didn't think I was ready but I don't really think anyone is no matter their age.
haha this is funny! I never was that close to anyone who had boys so I don't think I quite knew what i was in for with the whole toddler boy thing. I love it though and I'm so glad I have a boy! My sister is 21 and comes over a lot and I think she's seriously considering not having children at all because of this ; ) Can't say that I blame her!
ReplyDeletehahaha oh man this just cracked me up!! kids are totally nuts. this coming from a 25 year old mother of 2 girls ages 4 and almost 3, while cooking our third and first boy. hahaha. oh man kids are entertaining, but totally wild. bless you for trying with your adorable little nephew. :) yay for 7 days!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I could never be a mom. I don't have it in me.
ReplyDeleteAhahaa I feel you on the kid front. All it takes is one visit from my nieces and I'm like "Aaaaaaand set." No need for 'em right now. But I sure do love other people's kids :)
ReplyDeleteHell to the yeah! This morning I walk in to my 2 year olds room to get him out of his crib for the day and he says "umm.... Who are you?" then laughs. Great. Ruin my self esteem and laugh in my face about it all before 8am!
ReplyDeleteI love kids, but I wouldn't take on the responsibilities of having a kid yet - I'm only 19 years old! I know a few of my friends had their child when they were about early 20s... I honestly don't know how they did that, but kudos to them!
ReplyDeleteenjoy your last week!! and being around children really is the BEST birth control.
ReplyDeleteBwahahaha. I'm a mom of 3 and sometimes I think I'm still not ready to be a mom! It never ends, dear. NEVER.
ReplyDelete♥ Duckie.
P.S. I'm having a pretty frikken awesome giveaway that I know you'd love since you're pretty much a jewelry hoarder. Lol.

Loved this post! I am twenty six as well and feel the same way for sure!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your adventure I will definitely be following along! It is pretty courageous!
Ditto girlfriend. I think no one is EVER ready but bless all the Moms out there, ya'll are SAINTS.
ReplyDeleteLOL, you make me laugh. Tks for giving props to all moms, young and older. It is hard work and to think our lil ones are the best birth control, awesome! I think that people should be ready to have kids or dogs. It's so sad when ppl give up their dogs b/c they just weren't ready.
ReplyDeleteLOL- he is a cutie though! WOW- 7 more days! Time is flying!
