Our So-Called Cleanse

Okay, before you write me off completely, hear me out.
The Dizzle and I are on Day 3 of our attempted "Clean-Eating" Cleanse.

And I know, I know, the last time we attempted a cleanse, it was a complete and utter fail that didn't last more than a few hours. And I am completely to blame.
Because I love food.
And if I don't get it, I become a raging biznatch.

But listen, we haven't been the healthiest of eaters lately and our 30-day No Alcohol thing was pretty much a bust as well, so we decided to do something reasonable and manageable!

And this is why I have high hopes for this cleanse:
Because it actually involves food!

Here is the layout for 7 days:
*Raw fruits and veggies galore - all day, ayy-day*
*Brown Rice*


My day goes a little something like this...

I wake up longing for a bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee.
Instead, I drink water and eat a large serving of various fruits.

I long for Peanut M&M's and my 2nd cup of coffee.
Instead, I drink water and eat celery, carrots, and almonds.

I long for a bean and cheese burrito from Rubios.
Instead, I drink water and eat salmon, 1/2c of brown rice, and 1/2c of beans.

I long for some cheese and crackers or perhaps a refreshing Diet Coke.
Instead, I drink water and eat cucumbers accompanied with some more almonds.

I long for a giant bowl of V Dizzle's Chili.
Instead, I drink water and eat salmon, 1/2c of brown rice, and 1/2c of beans.

I long for a Fudgsicle or two.
Instead, I drink water and eat grapes.


Day 1 pretty much sucked balls.
Major headaches. Probably from the caffeine withdrawal.
My energy was surprisingly really low too.

{Also, can I just say that large amounts of veggies and beans equals....
well, I'm sure you get the gist.}

Day 2 was much better.
Had a ton of energy.

It's crazy that healthy, clean foods can make you feel so good. Weeeiiirrrddd, right?


So on to Day 3!

I guess I wouldn't really call it a cleanse so much as it's what's probably intended for one to put in their body. But where's the fun in that?
Let's get days 4-7 over with so I can get back to my burritos!
Just kidding...........sort of.

    ive never done a cleanse before! i mean ive tried the whole not eating shit cleanse...shit as in junk not feces. But I couldnt handle it!! I missed my junky foods hahah


  6. good luck!! i always think about doing a cleanse but the giving up coffee part really kills me - oh and cheese. could never give that up either.

  7. i do clean eating, but not as a cleanse, just as a whole lifestyle thing. BUT, i will say i still have alcohol (love my wine!) and also can't say no to my sweets. all in moderation :)

  8. This sounds like an awesome cleanse! I've been trying to eat healthier, and did GREAT. For one day.

    Maybe I'll try this? If at first you don't succeed, try try again, right?

  9. Good for you for taking control of your food and cleansing! I get really cranky when I don't get food as well. I believe the terminology is "hangry". The food sounds delicious and healthy, good luck!


  10. girl... i commend you for even attempting these different cleanses/detoxes. I get as far as thinking about them and then shove a california burrito down my throat.

  11. i really could never bring myself to do a cleanse... id have burritos on my brain more often than not and would probably end up stuffing my face, late night. wah. teach me your ways.

    I tried a 3 day fruit cleanse (made it til the end of day 2) but hubby did not do it with me so I was making regular meals as well that smelled delicious.

    It went like this:
    Day 1: Protein shake every 2 hours
    Dinner was salad with chicken topped with lemon and olive oil
    Day 2 & 3: Fruit every 2 hours
    Dinner was salad topped with lemon and olive oil
    Protein shake after dinner

    I ended up losing 4 lbs in the 2 days (prob water). I would have finished the cleanse if I was not cooking fattening meals as well!

  13. wow. i guess all i can say here is... better you than me? haha, just kidding (sort of) but really, GOOD LUCK!!!! me, i need some sort of dessert. like, every day. damn sweet tooth.

  14. i always think about how i want to do something like this and then remember coffee and cheese and get sad. you are a stronger woman than I.

  15. This sounds intense! Overall it seems manageable but salmon and brown rice twice a day for 7 days? I'm obsessed with food variety so I wouldn't survive at all. But it sounds crazy healthy so I'm sure you'll feel great! :) I get pretty Hangry too, when I don't get food so it's good to know you can survive!


  16. you are hilarious. i struggle with food so bad and after 2 babies i really need to get my act together. stuff is jiggling that simply shouldn't be jiggling.
    i just followed u thru GFC and hope you have time to do the same for me! i hope you like my blog and can stay awhile...i put alot of work into it.

  17. My "cleanse" for 2012 was no more chips or fries. Was 100% great until about May. Now, I occasionally eat them and I don't feel so bad. Good luck on your cleanse. I'm sure you'll feel better without all those toxins really soon.

  19. I've heard that the first day of a cleanse is the worst, so I'm not surprised you felt miserable. Hmmm maybe I shall try one too...

  20. I have to go on a diet kind of similar to this one for a body scan (thyroid cancer follow-up) only it is a little more restrictive. I definitely know what you mean about the tons of veggies and beans.

    I start my diet tomorrow and will be on it for about 2 to 3 weeks. Last time I had to be on it for a month. That sucked majorly. But I can do 2 weeks.

    All this to say 4 days left? You can do it. :)

  21. Totally do-able! 7 days is good. I did the Whole 30 (with some cheating) which is essentially clean eating with no beans and grains. I actually continued to eat that way because it made me feel so good. I've added in some sugars, grains, etc. Hope you feel good afterwards!

  22. I did something similar a few weeks ago and felt so good by the end. =) I was kinda sorta maintaining eating healthy, until last weekend happened.

  23. Do you get hangry? So hungry that you get angry? That's totally me. I managed a store and all my associates would know exactly when to get me food... because I became a raging lunatic.

  24. Lemon, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, water cleanse for 8 days... Lost zero weight.

    Mean as shit.

    Although I didn't shit the whole time. TMI? Def.

    Never again.

  25. i just no will power when it comes to doing a cleanse or eating clean. for the most part, i eat clean, but treat myself too!

  26. We keep saying we are gonna eat healthy but food is soooo good. I drink a crap load of water, like 3 liters a day usually but Ill eat mcdonalds here for every meal because German mcdonalds is that good.

  27. You are doing amazing! That you even decided to do this and work on being healthy is wonderful. I'm so proud of you :)

  28. We eat the paleo way and I do get wanting candy and burritos. But I feel better when I don't eat them.
