For those of you that don't know, Princess Sophia is my dad's new wife.
I say "new" because well, it'll always seem sort of new to me.
Anyway.
She's from Korea.
As in, literally didn't speak a word of English when I first met her.
Well, according to Fasha, Princess Sophia has been trying to learn English.
So anytime we're around, he won't translate for her anymore.
He makes her attempt to speak in English.
It's slow. It's sometimes painful. But mostly it's just entertaining.
Okay. So. Before you think I'm a horrible person for blasting this voice mail on the interwebs, know this:
I would be every bit okay with you blasting my attempt at speaking your language if I were to go to a new country. I really would.
It's funny. Asians are funny. We're all funny.
So calm down, and just have a laugh or two.
I have typed out the message for those that can't listen to the video....
or if you just flat out can't understand her.
...
"Hi Meeshell...this is Sophia. Ummmm....Good afternoon.
Ummmmm...my birthday 4:30 uh... Escondido home... September 3rd, Tuesday.....night. 6:30.
Uhhh....Michelle and.......your boyfriend.
Uhhh....Maybe....{laughs}....um.....It's Okay!
Call me...
Thank you...."
...
A few things I would like to point out:
1. September 3rd is a MONDAY. So I suppose I need to clarify the exact date, huh?
2. I like how she can't say V Dizzle's name and resorts to just...."your boyfriend."
3. It's possible we re-played the last 7 seconds of that message about 28 times.
...
The End.
And Princess, we'll be there.
xoxo
I think I just died laughing. And definitely shouldn't have listened to this at work... -Jenna
ReplyDeleteHahaha - cute.
ReplyDeleteMonday / Tuesday
4:30 / 6:30
I guess you better keep your schedule open!
Oh no the notorious, "umms." Whenever picking up the phone for Filipino family friends that happens to me, too! My mom still does that where you have to pause and deduct from the conversation key details but I love it (just not when I'm in a hurry).
ReplyDeleteHehehe! I love it. I worked with Koreans at a private school so I know all about this ;)
ReplyDeletelol very cute! :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha I love this. I'm curious a) if you called her back and b) what you possibly said back to that.
ReplyDeleteHaha that's all kinds of amazing and reminds me of conversations with my very Israeli family. =)
ReplyDeleteI also shamelessly make fun of FOBs. she's really fobby. Like all my aunts and uncles...who have lived in america for over 20 years. They still fob talk. come on now!!
ReplyDeleteI just died. Absolutely hilarious.
ReplyDeleteAwww. She's so sweet. I just want to hug her. :)
ReplyDeleteamazing.
ReplyDeleteHahaha aw Sophia. Why are Asians so funny? You're lucky you got that gold in your genes.
ReplyDeleteBahaha! Oh, Princess Sofia! I have to commend her, though! Not too bad for learning English! Just wait until the day she starts a blog and puts you on blast...
ReplyDelete;-)
LOL I love this. You kill it everyday Mish, your life should be a sitcom.
ReplyDeleteEvani
HA too freaking hilarious. now that's asian.
ReplyDeletePrincess Sophia is the name of Matthew McCon (ok...totally too lazy to google his last name)'s penis in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days.
ReplyDeleteAlso. Last night my mom and I got pedicures by cute little Asian ladies. We discussed the new floral pant fad with them. Both of our girls were on board. My mom and I not so much. Not because it's not cute, but because one of our thighs are substantially larger than all four of their cute little Asian thighs combined. Floral print is never a good look on us. ;)
Princess Sophia!! It's ok!! hahaha that's hilarious. I definitely just put on my headphones to listen to that gem...and I'm glad I did!!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from WTF and a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! & your dad's new wife is hilarious!
that picture just adds soo much more to that voice :)
ReplyDeletethank you very much for sharing! :)
She's way better than I am at a foreign language! I just sound like a cave man and say over and over again the one word I know like they will understand what I mean if I just keep saying it.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party, but I thoroughly enjoy that you call her Princess Sophia. This is hysterical. Did you call her back?
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog (today actually) and I love it. Just made my Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard I almost peed myself!
ReplyDeleteHahaha This is too cute and funny! Found you through WTF. I love this crazy Asian humor. I'm Filipino, there's too much to joke about. Lol New follower. :)
ReplyDeleteOmg ahhahah. I love that you put her picture so we can picture her saying it all. Obsessed. She is the cutest ever.
ReplyDeleteAwww...I think she's doing great! That was so sweet!
