A few weeks ago, my {not so} creative juices began to flow.
I was inspired by the paint gods to create a masterpiece.
And I knew it could only be one thing that would allow me to do just that:
Paint By Numbers.
I told V Dizzle my dreams and we looked high and low, but to my dismay,
Paint By Numbers was no where to be found.
My hopes and dreams were crushed. But like most things I get excited about on a whim,
I quickly forgot about this quest by the next day.
...
Fast forward to my birthday weekend and The Dizzle surprises me with not one, not two, but three Paint By Numbers sets: Pandas, Fish, and a Horse.
I mean, come on now. Could it get any better than that?
And let me tell you, getting back on that Sober Saddle opens up a lot of free time.
And I mean, a lot.
So what could be better than to bust out these gems in our times of need? Not much, I say.
{I told V Dizz he could have the Horse set. Because it was the ugliest. You're welcome, Boo.}
...
About an hour passes of quiet concentration on our masterpieces when I could tell our focus was starting to falter.
These sets give an age of 8 and up, but....umm, what?! I'm pretty sure even Thomas Kinkade would've been given a run for his money on this thing.
It is dang hard filling in those little spaces.
And then they expect you to mix the number 2 paint with the number 10 and come out with the perfect color combination for the panda's fur?
Oh no, sir. I'm not that talented.
The panda started to look yellow. Very yellow. And last I checked, yellow wasn't one of their colors.
...
So this was as far as I got before The Office consumed all of my attention and I had to put the paint brush down.
...
Maybe tomorrow night I'll try to tackle this advanced activity.
xoxo

Hahaha that's hilarious. LoLo and I used to buy coloring books and color sometimes. So fun!
ReplyDeleteWow that's a pretty intense paint by numbers! Maybe you should get the crayon colouring version, I think the spaces are larger! I don't know what kid would have the concentration for this.
ReplyDeleteHaha he must have grabbed the Intermediate paint by numbers set? All seasons of the office are on Hulu for xbox and I have watched every season about a dozen times since we moved here. German cable suckssss.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a paint by numbers in YEARS! I love the panda!
ReplyDeleteI may have just gotten inspired to starting painting by number. SO FUN.
ReplyDeleteHa, so funny! I haven't seen one of this in forever! Can't wait to see your finished masterpiece! = )
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have totally been wanting to do one too - where did he find them?!
ReplyDeletethat horse!!!!!!! it's amazing!!!!! i need some paint by numbers in my life.
ReplyDeletewhoa, v dizz finished the whole thing?! i'm impressed. mine would have definitely looked more like yours!

Is that V dizzle's horse .. or just what it should look like after finished?
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious. And that horse? I HAD THAT EXACT ONE in the 90s! That same horse. And it gave me fits! I stashed it in the bottom drawer of my dresser so it would stop taunting me.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I've so been eying me some paint by numbers lately!! (adding to my birthday wish list now)
ReplyDeleteI love this! I remember doing those and always giving up halfway when I was little. My mom would get SO mad when I asked for a new one like, two weeks later, instead or going back and finishing all of the other ones. And yeah, that panda is a little too yellow.

My Musings
I like to paint and color like 3 year olds. Faces are blue and hair is green. No thought process at all.
ReplyDeleteOMG PANDAS! That's all I can think about! GAH PANDAS!

I think next weekend you should do the creepy velvet paintings. I wonder if you can still find those anywhere...
ReplyDeletei haven't done one of those in years!! maybe i need to get my paint on and do one tonight. that is about the extent of my artistic ability, painting in the numbers
ReplyDeleteWe used to LOOOOOOVE paint by numbers! I had one framed for a while before I moved and it went in the garbage. Target has some cute paint by numbers designed by Todd Oldham (kid made modern), but I haven't seen them in stores :(. Anyways, I hate when they ask you to mix colors!
ReplyDeleteWoop Woop! Best prize I've ever won. So stoked. Love ya chiquita :)
ReplyDeleteLol seriously though, that's gotta be the hardest paint by numbers set I've ever seen!! Mixing paint colors too? V Dizzle clearly must have bought you the adult version. And so happy you're an Office fan, that only solidifies the fact you are simply awesome.
