Remember how Fasha wanted to take me parasailing for a belated birthday present this past weekend?
Well someone should have told him that reservations would be needed in order to do so.
His excuse for not making them last week like he said he would?
"Who would be parasailing these days anyway?"
Oh, I don't know, Fasha.
It is only the middle of Summer in San Diego where tourist season is extremely high and most people gravitate towards water activities in these conditions.
So I'd place a strong bet that everyone and their mother wants to go parasailing these days.
Wouldn't you?
Needless to say, that didn't work out.
...
Want to know what he did do for my birthday instead?
Fasha proceeded to bust out his iPhone to play Amazing Grace on this new app he purchased by blowing into the bottom of the phone and simultaneously pressing the correct buttons on the screen.
Mad skills.
{All while Princess Sophia looked on with what I can only imagine was strong admiration. I wouldn't know, as English is still not a strong suit for her, so not many words are spoken.}
...
Fasha then held a lengthy discussion on why his hair is looking fuller these days.
He said that he has grown it out longer so that he can comb it back to hide the bald spots.
He calls it genius.
I call it Korean Donald Trump.
...
Now for the kicker.
Fasha then proceeded to give me my birthday gift.
Unwrapped and definitely used.
Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul.
What the...
I don't even have the words.
I mean....what?
...
After the lunch festivities, to make up for the parasailing fail, Fasha took us to go Indoor Rock Climbing at Solid Rock.
That is some workout, I tell you!
A very scary workout.
My heart was beating so hard the first time I went up. I was for sure The Dizzle would drop me.
But alas, he did not. He held on for dear life and promised I would make it down alive.
And guess what? I did.
It was a lot of fun. V Dizzle was basically pro status from the get go.
I thoroughly enjoyed staring up at him and his muscles as I held his rope. Yes, yes I did.
And you know what? By the end of it, I'd say I was a bit of a pro myself too.
And when I say pro, I mean that my heart wasn't leaping out of my chest anymore.
And yes, Fasha was that guy wearing his suit in an indoor rock climbing place.
Because he's cool like that.

I've always wanted to try rock climbing! ..Properly. Last time I attempted it I was about ten and I screamed at my guide to let me down because I was scared of heights {all while I clinged to the wall about a metre off the ground}. It looks like you had a lot of fun though! :) That book looks pretty uh, interesting..I'm sure I'd make the same face if I got it! Haha I love all books though :D I'm definitely a bookworm!
ReplyDeleteHahaha another hilarious post. I was just thinking to myself, is Fasha wearing a suit right now?? I also love that Fasha is always able to find an instrument and play no matter where he is.
ReplyDeleteAh! I LOVE climbing. My shoes are ALWAYS in my car. I used to climb 20+ hours a week. It's not nearly so often anymore :(
ReplyDeleteI was just about to comment on Fasha's suit and you beat me to it!
ReplyDeleteThe chicken soup book... hilarious!
So good. I was thinking the other day that we hadn't been hearing much about Fasha. So glad to see that he's doing well and still playing music. Also, love the suit.
ReplyDeletei practically live at solid rock in san marcos! so much fun! it cracks me up that he is wearing a suit. did he actually climb in it?
ReplyDeleteI love rock climbing - it is so much fun! Looks like you all had a blast.
ReplyDeleteYour stories are amazing. Everytime I read them Im pretending Im watching a sitcom and thinking "what crazy antics will Fasha get into today?" And that book? Probably the best gift ever?
ReplyDeleteWahahah this post made me laugh out loud. Your Fasha is such an asian dad. Pics of him rock climbing in his suit would have been priceless!
ReplyDeleteDoes he also sing old Korean songs at dinner when he's had a few drinks, because that's what my dad does.
Aww .. I though fasha was gonna do some climbing himself~ LoL .. would've loved to see him in his shirt, tie and loafers climbing the rock~
ReplyDeleteBefore I die, all that I ask is that I get to go to lunch with Fasha at some point. The suit, the book, the hair, the app...it's all too much.
ReplyDeleteohmygosh your dad's pretty awesome. but... please tell me he didn't do any rock climbing in that suit?!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to parasail and rock climb at some point in my life. but that whole height thing kind of freaks me out. as for Fasha... i just LOVE! :]
ReplyDeletewell as much fun as parasailing probably would have been, i would loove to rock climb myself. looks like the fail turned into a win! =)
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, all of these pictures are so fabulous. and that chicken soup book. no words! adore!

Princess Sophia!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you still had a good day, even though you weren't parasailing. Climbing rocks is still pretty badass though. And just love Fasha. Love him.
hahaha your parents crack me up. and i haven't indoor rock climbed in years, but now i want to!! so fun!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha you're cracking me up! Both activities sound scary to me (but I am a sissy!) but good for you for rock climbing! That's bad ass!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want that book, you can regift it right on over to me. My birthday is March 9th and my (not at all) chiropractic soul could use some sweet sweet chicken soup.
ReplyDeletehahaha that book is incredible. i would read it just for the laughs.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome birthday! It's nice to meet you!
