Running. Marathon Status.

So as you may or may not know, I've been training for San Diego's Rock n Roll marathon.
It's on June 3rd, 2012.
{Or 130 days from now. But who's counting?}
26.2 miles.
26.2 loooonnnggg miles.

Prior to starting this training, the longest I had ever run in my life, without stopping,
was...oh, about 3 miles?
And that was pushing it.
I'm not a runner, people.
Like, at all.
But I kind of felt like I should do something challenging and rewarding while I still can.
I'm going to be 26 soon!
Okay...so I may still have 6 months before that happens,
but still.
Time's a tickin' and I'm not getting any younger!

V has been by my side every step of the way,
which honestly is the only reason why I'm still even doing this stupid thing.
It has definitely been such a motivation to have someone hold you accountable throughout the week.

We're only up to 8 miles for our long distance days,
and sometimes I get flustered thinking about having to do more than 3 times that distance.
Also, I've just been so tired lately.
I can barely keep my eyes open past 10pm.
All I want to do is nap and rest.
I feel like such a weenie!

But the other day, V sent me something that made me feel a whole lot better about this:

"In a long distance race, everyone gets tired...
The winner is the runner who figures out where to put the tired...
Figures out how to store it away until after the race is over...
Sure, he's tired...
Everyone is...
That's not the point...
The point is to Run."

True that, V-Dizzle.
True that.
It's okay to be tired.
It's part of it. It's a natural thing.
And I will keep on keepin' on till that 26th mile has been run!

So I shall leave you with this...a little running collage over the course of this journey.
{My personal fave is my mean death stare expressing my dislike for having to run on New Year's Day.}

Happy Hump Day!
xoxo

  2. I'm totally impressed. And a "non-runner" myself...I set the goal of doing a 5k and was so proud when I did it. But I don't know how on Earth people do the long distances.

Keep at it, chica! You'll be so happy you did.

  3. You are sooooo hardcore. seriously. I think the longest I've ever run, is a mile:-) I'm the laziest runner ever! Supposedly, I have good form and all that jazz, but zero motivation. However, the whole setting a goal and kicking it's butt thing sounds pretty awesome! xoxo

  4. Way to go you! My personal favorite run was The Strand (Coronado to IB) before my HALF marathon. I mean, I felt like I was going to die after. But it's a nice and flat run! Can't wait to hear how those longer runs go.
