I feel like I am officially an adult now. I bought my first car last night! No Mom or Dad to hold my hand, just me. It was very liberating. I took all the skills I learned over the years from watching my dad negotiate with so many car dealerships and I put them to work. I tried to stay calm and composed throughout the entire process, when in actuality I was feeling the exact opposite. It was as if I was in the middle of a high-stakes poker tournament. Down to the final table, with just me and my opponent. I knew my hand was decent enough, but I hoped he couldn't tell how much I was really bluffing. I would bet, he would raise. I wanted to walk away, he reeled me back in with a free extended warranty. I laughed at the amount of down payment he wanted from me. I quickly sobered up with the promise of free oil changes till 100k miles. After 3 1/2 hours of this, it came down to folding and walking away or going all in....Let me just say, I'm glad I did.
